Singapore Fashion Week 2015

Hi guys, I decided to write about Singapore Fashion Week instead of my Japan trip this week because the amount of pictures I need to edit and resize for the Japan trip is too high. And I made a promise to try & have a blogpost (not advertorial) up every week so here it is.

Got my hair done at trusty Salon Vim before the 1st show on Friday. I had no idea in mind and just told the stylist to wing it and this was what I ended up with.

All glam-ed up in a side ponytail.

I kinda like it!

Felt really shiok to not have to touch and arrange my hair every now and then cause it is all nearly in place.

So if you have any hair woes or events to attend and need to styling, you can consider Salon Vim! 

 

Wore a black/white jumpsuit with a cape blazer & I'm sort of hating the bottoms of the pants. It would be perfect if it was more flare.

 

Attended the event with girlfriends, Jessica, Tricia, Eve & Beatrice.

Sorry guys but I didn't take any picture of the apparels as my camera wasn't functioning well in the dark because I set it in the wrong mode *face palm*.

Then it was time for the next show, Exhibit!

 

Love quite a couple of their items and even though it is pretty quirky, with the pom-poms and all, the silhouettes are all so nicely done. 

 

& yes, that's Yoyo getting swamped by all the bouquets of flowers.

 

 

 

The next day for Love Bonito's show.

 

 

As usual, headed down to Salon Vim with the girls to set our hair and my stylist gave me this super sleek look.

 

He said it matches what I wore and that's the look they did for the models the other day. LOL.

OOTD, monochrome, yet again.

I think I look quite fierce leh.

With the girlfriends.

& this was the final shot of the Love Bonito show.

Very whimsical theme and quite a lot of the fabric used was neoprene.

 

Definitely not for everyday wear but it will surely turn heads.

 

YAY, that's the end of SFW.

Was pretty tiring for us even though all we did was just to doll up and appear for the shows.

 

But you know what? Picking what to wear, making up and having to get to the salon 1 hour before to set hair is quite tiring. HAHA. #firstworldproblems.

 

It was fun though, to have a reason for all of us to dress up.

I'm really looking to the weekend as it is my birthday weekend!!!

Woohoo!

 

SX & I are going to have a 3d2n staycation at Ritz Carlton (one of my fav hotels) and we're just gonna vege out and roll in bed, swim, eat and do nothing for the 2 days.

 

Will make a mental note to take more pictures so that I can share it here with you guys.

Benefit Opening - Westgate

Attended the Benefit opening at Westgate mall yesterday after work with Jessica (aka tippytapp the fashion-OOTD-nista)!

It was super far for me & I've never been to Jurong for more than 5x in my life because I've stayed in the East since I was born.

But because it was the opening of Benefit (a brand which I'm a fan of), traveling all the from East to West made it worth while! 

Will be reviewing some of the items I've gotten and am going to collaborate w Benefit on some exciting plans for the next few months (not confirmed) 

& after the event, Jessica's bf & SX joined us for dinner.

Super impromptu couple dinner. 

Lol.

It was the first time the 2 boys met each other & I thought it might be awkward for them but it went pretty well. The boys talked about cars, dota & what not. So it went pretty well. 

Westgate mall or whatever is the proper name of that mall is super huge but seriously to me, not much shops there leh. They have a lot of restaurants and I like how the supermarket at the basement sells a lot of..

Japanese food & snacks.

I arrived early so I went to check out the mall before Jessica arrived. 

I even took a couple of selfies. Lol.

But first, here's what we had for dinner:

Tonkatsu ma maison.

Both Jessica & I were craving for Japanese food but the queue for the sushi restaurant was long & it didn't look like it was those higher standard sushi restaurant? If you know what I mean.

So we ate this instead!

& here's what I was wearing that day. Halter maxi dress courtesy of @yinagoh TVD! I've always been a big fan of maxi and this particular one is not too over the top kinda glam and it is super comfy and light weight too! Best of all not sheer!! Just throw on a pair of nude undies will do 

Over lunch time, I went to Watsons with my colleague and I bought this Loreal lipstick that was on sale.. $21.90!

Color called "vivid coral" if I remember correctly. 

I swatched it on the back of my palm and found the correct surprisingly pigmented & very moisturizing too! 

This must have been my first ever purchased Loreal lipstick. 

& this is how it looks like!

Love the color! This lipstick will be my ultimate go-to for the month!

So let's take a look at the pretty Benefit boutique!

The whole boutique is so pretty and girly, I feel so happy to just be in there because if I had vanity room, this is it.

We got to witness the opening ceremony.



& was entertained by a very flirty and fun dance.



& then it was time to check out the store..





I wanna try their blushers!
I know right, how can I not have any of their blushers? I really don't!!

I have other products like High beam, Hello Flawless compact powder, Hello Flawless Liquid foundation and Benetint but I don't own any of their box blushers.

These perfume looks so luxurious don't they?
They smell pretty awesome too.

The Benefit Brow Bar where you can get your brows waxed and colored! They also provide upper lip waxing which I really want to try because I'm quite fair and I hate to look like I have lady-mustache. So not flattering.

Have seen a couple beauty bloggers talked about the Gimme Brow fiber gel and I tried it on Friday and I must say I'm quite liking it. It keeps my brows tidy and the color matches my brows perfectly. Sorry but I forgot to take a picture of my brows with this product.

This is another product that I've seen youtube beauty gurus used all the time and I decided to try it out once I got home!

Before: see how my lower lashes look almost non-existent.
(Ignore my top lashes, lazy to apply mascara to join my real + fake lashes together)



& this is after applying 2 coats of They're Real mascara.
Super thick and long right!!
And I'm quite surprised that it doesn't leave my lashes looking clumpy because when there are fibers in the mascara, it usually makes the lashes stick together in a bunch.



I really like the brush tip of the mascara because it separates and combs through my lashes very easily!

Palais D'or x Glam Glow

"Scents are a remarkable way to enliven your senses. It can transport you back to nostalgic memories with startling clarity and emotion. It can also take the weary soul on a tranquil soothing journey."

& the above applies to me really well.

I don't know about you guys but I am a person who has a very strong sense of smell. 

That's why I always dread taking the public transport or being stuck in the lift with someone who doesn't use a deodorant because my nose is very sensitive to smell. There was once I even told SX to go home and change because his shirt had this "not dried" smell that is really bad. You know, when you do laundry and if you don't let your clothes be under the sun long enough, there will be this funky smell and it will linger on your clothes until the next wash. I hate that smell.

So back to my point, there was even a time where I started spritzing my room every night with my perfume because I wanted it to smell nice. 

So when Palai D'or approached me to  try out their essential oils, I was super pleased and agreed immediately.

I decided to get their electric burner instead of the one with candle because I was afraid I would accidentally set my house on fire. LOL. I am pretty clumsy.

Palais D’or means Golden Palace in French. It represents the feeling of grandeur and luxury. They aspire to let their customers indulge in a voyage of luxurious therapeutic treatment through the power of essential oil at the comfort of their home.

So once I received the parcel, I quickly cleared space on my TV shelve & placed the burner there. 

Many people are unaware that essential oils have been around for many millennia. They are in fact, known to be some of the oldest and most powerful substances on earth.

Essential oils are the pure essence extracted from plants and are often referred to as nature's living energy. It can provide both psychological and physical benefits when used correctly

So the above 6 essential oils are what I've picked.

Let me share a little on my favorite few:

Geranium Rose oil has a balancing effect on the nervous system, quells anxiety and lifts the spirits thus making the world an easier place to live in. It can put the mind back into balance through its action on the adrenal cortex and is great for relieving stress. It is also great for balancing the secretion of sebum on oily skin.

Grapefruit oil has high vitamin C content and is therefore valuable to the immune system. It helps protect against colds and flu and has a very positive effect on weight loss. It also has diuretic properties that helps to eliminate excess water from the body and is therefore also great for treating cellulite.

Lemon oil is a useful essential oil which is conducive to calming the mind and relieving stress. Proper usage of lemon oil can aid concentration and improve alertness as well. It can also be very beneficial to the circulatory system and aids with blood flow, reducing blood pressure and helping with nosebleeds. Its haemostatic properties help to stop bleeding and are also good for detoxifying during lymphatic drainage massage. It can boost the immune system and cleanses the body which improves the functions of the digestive system.

Rosemary Oil was one of the most broadly used plants throughout the ages. It has been traditionally been used for stimulating the mind, enhancing clarity, relieving stiffness of joints and stimulating healthy hair growth. It is also great for treating cellulite and wrinkles.  The diuretic properties of rosemary oil are useful with reducing water retention during menstruation. **Am so gonna use this tonight because the time of the month is here and I'm feeling so freaking bloated!!**

Tea tree oil is very important in the health of the immune system. It contains medicinal properties and comes with powerful anti-microbial activity against bacteria, viruses and fungi. Tea tree oil is one of the most powerful immune stimulant oils and helps fight infections of all kinds and helps clear the skin. It is also a good insect repellent and can be used to repel ticks and soothe sunburns by reducing inflammation. 

Eucalyptus oil is very helpful when used for headaches, fevers, ailments of the respiratory tract, muscular aches and pains and in skin care. It is also very good for treating burns by preventing bacterial growth and subsequent pus formation.

So just turn on the electric burner and add about 8 drops of essential oil into it.

You can add more or less depending on your preference for a stronger or lighter scent.

For me? 8 drops does the trick.

You can instantly smell the entire room being filled up with the scent. 

I LOVE IT.

I was able to fall asleep much easier and wake up feeling refreshed.

& best of all, coming home to a room that smells good after a long day at work is such a pleasant feeling. 

It also doubles up as a tiny night lamp.

Next up, will be a beauty review.

I was invited by Evonne, 1 of the top beauty bloggers here if you guys don't know her, to Sephora at Orchard ion for the GlamGlow event.

Before receiving the invitation, I've already made a mental note to myself to check out GlamGlow's mud mask because I've seen several youtube beauty gurus talk about the product and they all claim that it makes their skin glow and all.

Here are the founders sharing their story on how their best selling masks were created, story began in Hollywood, and how many celebrities are using their masks as their holy grail item for their skin issues.

I did not know which one to use first!! I was wondering if I should go for YouthMud to get that glowing complexion or use the SuperMud to get rid of those dirt in my pores.

Applied it over my nose and on my chin where there was a red and angry pimple.

This was after 10 mins..

& after 18 mins or so.. it dried completely.

LOOK AT ALL THAT GUNK THAT'S PULLED OUT FROM UNDER MY SKIN.

Super gross omg!

 But after seeing this, I truly understand why GlamGlow's SuperMud mask is bagging all those awards. I mean, this stuff really works!!  Look at all that sebum and dirt pulled out from clogged pores!! 

I didn't even know my pores were so badly clogged.

& here's my nose after washing off and applying toner.

My pores are less visible and the blackheads have reduced by about 40% man.
