Highlight + Ninja Bowl + Tsuta Ramen

This is really the year of highlights.

I got addicted to them from like, mid last year? And I had a humble amount of highlighters at that time..

This pic was posted June 2016, so I guess I started collecting them maybe at the start of 2016? No idea.

My very first favorite highlight will forever and always be - Laura Mercier's Matte Radiance Baked Powder Highlight. It suits almost all skin tones and its the kinda highlight that you can't go wrong with or put too much of. Beginners, this one is for you😉 

It was my 1st high end highlight and till now, I'm still using the same one even though I have another back up in my makeup drawer.

& this above pic was posted in October 2016, just 4 months after the 1st picture, & look at how it double. No, tripled 😂

I think within that 4 months I must have been on a highlight shopping craze & started carting out highlights nonstop.

I'm intending to do an updated highlight collection but, I seem to always be waiting for the next best highlight to be added in to my collection before I post it. So, I've been delaying it for awhile.

I'll probably be only getting 1 shade, the lightest one. Cause it's my kinda color.

It's said to launch in April so I'm patiently waiting...

Anastasia Beverly Hill's Aurora Palette. Which I'm still sitting on the fence about cause..

I already own their Moonchid palette and I'll be receiving the Nicole G. palette soon too.

So, do I really need this?

And, I think the next one is a perfect dupe for it..

BH Cosmetics Backlight Highlight palette which is so adorable! And when I say it's a dupe, I'm not saying they copied ABH aurora palette cause, BH Cosmetics launched theirs first! 

See how similar some of the shades are? So I'll definitely rather be spending my $ on this instead.

Yep, so far these are the highlights I'm intending to get..

Moving on to food...

Finally tried Ninja Bowl with my girls last week! 

I ordered the.. Sakura something. Which was the grilled salmon bowl.

& sadly, it fared lower than my expectations. Maybe it was the lack of avocados 😂 I love having my grilled salmon (which was a tad too dry) with avocados and this just felt very sour and dry? The sourness was from the salad sauce which I have no idea what it is and the pickled cucumbers. Even though I was excited about the onsen egg, it didn't go well with the whole bowl.

We ordered these for starters and I like them better than the bowls 😂

Cauli Pops which is fried cauliflowers served with a side of Siracha mayo dip. Omg I love the dip. Damn good.

And shoestring Truffle fries!

Maybe I ordered the wrong bowl at Ninja bowl. 

Will I return again? 

I don't mind!

But the next time round I'll order the Salmon Poke bowl instead of grilled salmon. 

My friend who tried their steak said it was very good! So if you love beef.. you should try it out!

My favorite healthy bowl is definitely Pimp My Salad from Suntec's Pasarbella! I used to eat it all the time for lunch as my office was located just opposite Suntec. But now that I've shifted office, I can't eat it so often anymore 😭

Love love love the guacamole & the salmon & the roasted pumpkin there.

I've yet to try similar food like Grain Traders! But both places are a little out of the way for me, not far but.. out of the way. Haha. So maybe next time.

My dinner for 1 last night cause SX had work so I settled dinner before going home. Love this from Makisan too! I created my own salad which consisted of...

- 2 servings of salmon sashimi 

- tofu 

- edamame

- avocado

- cucumber 

- cherry tomato 

- tuna 

& for sauce, I picked Ponzu which I really like!

I'm not on a diet anymore but I still find myself picking healthier food choices when I'm dining alone. When I'm out with friends or SX, I just eat whatever everyone wants so that balances it out

& as you can see, they serve 2 types of ramen there.

The Shoyu with truffle oil soup base and the Miso soup base.

If you have a heavier taste bud, you should try the Miso base and if you're like me, prefer a lighter broth, pick the Shoyu with Truffle oil!

Both SX and I ordered the Shoyu + Truffle oil ramen!

We got the ramen with all toppings!

I love the broth so much that I almost drank it all. The Truffle oil makes it so fragrant! Not too strong, just a hint of truffle with each mouthful. 😍

I miss it already!

Beauty Review: Laneige

Was so close to buying this Becca Soft light blurring powder.

It claims to give you the Snapchat blur filter effect on your skin. And it is meant as the last step in your makeup routine.

It will not rub away your highlight or blush as a YouTuber reviewed but I don't like the fact that it comes in only 1 shade and it seems to me that I maybe slightly dark for me.

I'm hoping it really works but I saw another youtuber say it sucks. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So I'm sitting on the fence for this..

It cost $58 on Sephora website and I don't want to spend $58 on something until I'm sure it's good.

So.. shall wait a little longer and let more people test it out first. Hehe.

Received these from Laneige and I finally tried them out. 

Really liking both the mascara and lip tints!

These are the colors and so far I've worn Urban Coral and Marilyn Red out.

Urban coral is a really pretty shade that makes your lips looks like you've just had an ice popsicle.

It is very hydrating for the lips but bear in mind that touch ups are needed after each meal though. Cause they tend to slip and get eaten away pretty easily.

I don't mind that I have to touch it up regularly though. Cause it just takes 3 secs.

Apply the product on my lips and just press my lips together & rub them to get the color evenly distributed.

See how long my lower lashes are. 😍😍

I love how it separates each lash and lengths it without clumping up. I hate having clumpy lashes, I think it looks very "dirty" LOL.

Really does a great job at lengthening it!! Curling wise it isn't one that gives it a dramatic curl but that's easily achieved by a eyelash curler. But lengthening wise.. it is damn amazing.

I love how neat and long the lashes are!

Also received this Brow cushion by Laneige.

Seems so cool!

But I haven't found time to try it out yet.

I imagine it to be very soft and natural looking.. like how the Koreans always do their brows.

I'll probably try it this week! And share my experience if I do. 😘

Look Of The Day

Will be sharing the products I used to create this look!

Used the Etude House green/purple playstick to cancel out any red spots on my face..

Next I used the Any Cushion in "illuminate" over my cheekbones, nose bridge, chin and middle of my forehead. It does give my skin a little extra brightening effect but I don't think I can't live without it? I'll probably use it again only if I have extra time to spare. Else, just relying on my usual highlighters for my glow is usually sufficient.

Then I used Laura Mercier's Secret Concealer under my eyes.. I love how creamy and blend-able this Concealer is. By far the best under eye concealer I've used. It really covers the dullness and darkness and all you need is a tiny tiny bit of product.

Followed by MAC Studio Perfect Powder foundation all over my face. This is pretty new to my makeup collection.. appreciate the coverage & doesn't oxidizes.

And lastly concealing my pimple marks with Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage. 👍🏼

I used the Benefit Hoola to contour my cheekbones and Kat Von D along the sides of my nose bridge.

As I have many highlighters, sometimes I'll layer 2 different ones together and for this look, I went in first with NYX on my forehead, cheekbones, nose bridge, Cupid's bow & chin.

Followed by dusting MAC's soft frost over the tip of my nose & my cheek bones again.

& for Blush, I mixed Guerlain's Happy Glow blush + Benefit's Dandelion to create a soft girly pink blush 💕

For eyes, I used Zoeva's Rose Golden in Reflective Elegance all over my eyelid + MAC's Caitlyn Jenner eyeshadow in Malibu Bronze on the outer corners of my eyes & lower lash line.

Self explanatory..

Anyway I totally skipped on Mascara & eyeliner cause I got lazy and I didn't feel like putting in effort to remove my mascara at the end of the day, so I just left my eyes bare with only eye shaodow...

Liquid lipstick from M2T skin (yes, the same brand that produced the camel milk soap)

I finally tried their new formula and I love it.

I used their old formula before and I didn't like it very much, it wasn't as long lasting & I hated the smell.. 😂

that's why I didn't share about it cause, I don't want to share things that I personally wouldn't use and promote it just because the brand belongs to someone I know.

They also launched more colors and passed me a few to try! But I only managed to try 1 so far - and I really like it!

Very pigmented, I only used 2 swipes for my entire lips, & it is pretty long lasting + very comfortable on the lips. Feels kinda like the NYX soft matte.

I will test out & swatch the other colors that I have and update you girls again. 

Unfortunately, M2T skin isn't selling the liquid lipsticks in Singapore yet so you gotta wait!

But the good news is, the founders are coming to Singapore in March, so I can probably ask them to bring back more of the camel milk soap & some liquid lipsticks. 😉

I overdrew my upper lips on purpose (my lower lips is quite thick so I didn't bother) and I really like how I look with slightly thicker upper lip!!

Am contemplating if I should get lip fillers now but I wouldn't lah cause it looks quite painful. And I can easily achieve larger lips by just overdrawing it

My lips looks so juicy 😂

But when I asked SX if I looked any different, he said no. 😓

How I apply my highlighter (ft. Laura Mercier)

Will be reviewing on the Laura Mercier's Face Illuminator that I received a week ago. A huge thank you to the sweet ladies over at LM for sending this to me cause you girls know how much I love my highlighters. 

Aiya, I just love makeup. 

Period.

They sent me 2 lipsticks as well as 2 brow mascara but I've yet to try them on. So let's just stick to the highlighters today!

I think there's a total of 3 shades, and the one that I didn't have is. Darker one that's meant to be used as a bronzer, I supposed.

I've never ever bronzed my face cause it's not a look I'll go for.

Here's a close up at the 2 face illuminators that I have.

On the left is Addiction. It is a shimmering gold (almost yellowish) shade. 

And on the right is Devotion, a sparkly light pink color.

Even though it is in powder form, it has got a pretty creamy feel to it when I sweep my fingers over the products.

The product is easily picked up by my fingers and the color payoff is pretty intense.

But when I use a fan brush to apply it onto my face, the highlight is evenly distributed and gives a very natural glow instead.

However if you like a very strong highlight like me, you can layer them on!

And here's a swatch of them on my arm.. I don't know why the pink shade appears to be so dark here, because it isn't so in real life. It is lovely when used as a blush topper to give a very healthy rosy shine to your cheeks!

& here's a little makeup tip!

I always do this whenever I want to get a more intense highlight..

I would recommend using a tapered highlight brush for this.

Yup, this kind. 

Cause I find that it gives a more concentrated amount of highlight than compared to fan brushes. 

And to wet your brush, these are the makeup setting sprays that I use..

Urban decay's all nighter spray or MAC Fix+.

1️⃣ Sweep up generous amount of highlight with DRY tapered brush.

2️⃣ Spritz your brush with makeup setting spray (just 1 spritz is enough, you don't want to it super wet. Just damp will do the trick)

3️⃣ Apply highlight onto cheek & brow bones 

4️⃣ Repeat 1-3 if you want a crazier highlight, but I seldom go there. 😂

I know that some people will just wet their brush first before picking up the highlight but I don't like doing that.. cause...

It will end up leaving your powder makeup with this layer of hardened film/crust.

And I really hate that!!!

So I'll avoid getting my powder makeup products wet. 

Beauty Review: Sleek & Kat Von D

Finally received my Sleek highlighting palette yesterday after almost 2 months. But the highly coveted solstice was OOS and I didn't wanna wait for it anymore so I just told them to refund me my $. I also ordered a color correcting palette which was OOS too.

So in the end, my parcel only consisted of the Precious Metal highlight palette and 1 blusher.

I also wandered into Sephora after work and left with 2 lipsticks from Kat Von D. 😅 They were too unique to pass.

I also received my Morphe 35W eyeshadow palette the day before!

So many new makeup to add to my collection. 💕

Okay, let's talk about SLEEK first.

This palette costs $14.99 Usd?

Very decent packaging, sturdy and the amount of product is quite substantial too.

Compared to the highly raved Solstice palette, this Precious Metal one is more warm toned and actually much more wearable for your usual day-to-day look in my opinion.

& here's the swatch.

I would probably use all 3 shades on the left except for the darkest one.

I haven't tried it on my face yet so I can't tell if it's really as awesome a product as everyone says it is.

It isn't as pigmented as I thought it would be with just 1 swipe, but it's very build-able though.

Next is a blush in "Rose Gold".

And I got it because it seriously looks like Nars Orgasm to me. & it was only selling $6.99 usd, no harm trying!

& here's a swatch of it.

It's really pigmented! I used on my cheeks today for work and I made sure I applied it very light handed-ly. And I love it!! It gives a really healthy glow & pinched-look to the cheeks. 💕

Actually I think I may have this blush in my collection..... Cause I own a blush palette from sleek.. But I've never gotten around to using it. Shit. I shall go home and check that blush palette out.

Next is the Kat Von D studded kiss lipsticks.

L - Gothica
R - Magick

They both have tiny glitters in them which is why I was drawn to it.

Cause with the amount of lipsticks I have at home, I think I pretty much own every color I would ever need or will wear.

But a lipstick with such glitter in them is something that I don't have!

So I bought it.. Hehe

It cost $31 per stick! If I'm not wrong.

Gothica when worn.

It's a brown tone lipcolor with specks of gold glitter in it and it doesn't look over the top at all when worn.

Copper is the only word I can describe the color. It's not super pigment, but can be layered very well. So I got this effect with 2-3 layers? And it isn't drying at all.

I'll definitely buy this again once I've used it up.

And for the next color, which also supposedly contains glitter - Magick.

It isn't as glittery as the swatches that I saw online. Not sure if it was the lipstick that I got or what..

Magick on my lips.

If you look REALLY closely, you'll be able to make out a few glitters on my lower lip. 

It is a dusty pink shade that goes on matte and is very opaque. Much more pigmented than Gothica for sure.

This color is surely one that I'll wear very often, similar to what I wore in my previous entry? 

But this gives a high shine look to the lips, it really special though. Cause the color is almost matte but it has shimmering glitters that peeks through and appears whenever it catches the light.
